>I CHANGED MY MIND - SEE EDIT AT END OF REVIEW BELOW!!!!!!!!
I thought this would be an eyeliner in a smoky grey shade, but it's actually more like a powder shadow in a sponge applicator. I used it to apply the shadow to my lid and then my finger to blend it upwards to create the "smoky eye" look - I didn't find the applicator much use for that as it just delivers more and more of the colour rather than acting as a blending tool. I was able to use the tip of the applicator to deepen the colour next to my upper lashes, but I wouldn't call it an "eyeliner" as such as the line is too thick.
>The effect was nice for evening and I would use it again (maybe with a traditional liquid liner for definition) but my two main complaints were that the shadow tends to go into creases on the lid after a few hours and it's also rather hard to get off. I used a liquid eye make up remover on a cotton pad but didn't succeed in removing it all - in the end I had more success with a micellar cleansing water wipe, but it was a bit clingy, especially close to the lashes.
EDIT: I've now been using this product for a few months and I've totally changed my opinion of it, hence my upgrade from three stars to five!! My less-then-ideal initial experience has given way to delight now I've worked out what to do with it - it's ideal for drawing fuzzy, smoky lines on the top lid after applying your usual eyeshadow first and the effect is great, much subtler and more flattering than a hard line drawn with a brush and liquid liner. I've stopped trying to use it as any kind of shadow, that's really not what it's best at.
>Good quality eye liner or shadow/shaper if blended when still moist.
>Absolutely brilliant I wouldn't change back to the pencil......
